INTERVIEW: Designer Snapshot with SUMMERSKIN

Happy 4th of July to all our American customers! In honor of this patriotic holiday we chose to introduce one of our US customers; SUMMERSKIN. This company was founded by Summer Kramer, a pharmacist from Portland Oregon who was faced with a life changing event.

Summer uses only the most luxurious, breathable and comfortable fabrics to make clothing that looks great, feels great and helps to protect you from the sun.  In a world where the risks of skin cancer, our knowledge of the sun’s harmful effects and the desire to lead healthy lifestyles are becoming increasingly higher, the need for stylish and sun safe clothing is growing each day!  Take a look here to find out more!

1. Describe Telio in one word

2. What fuels your creativity?
SUMMERSKIN was created from my own personal need for sun-protective clothing. As a melanoma survivor, I was tired of my only sun-protective options being active wear or clothing of older generations. The SUMMERSKIN line is luxurious and chic basics to provide the sun-protective element without compromising your style. Skin cancer diagnoses are at epidemic levels, with over 3 million Americans diagnosed every year. In addition, 90% of the signs of aging are directly due to sun exposure. I am driven and motivated by everyone who has been touched by skin cancer, and am passionate about increasing awareness of the need to keep our skin healthy and beautiful. I want people to be able to live and play in the sun without having to compromise their skin’s health. SUMMERSKIN – spread the word!

3. Where is your favorite place to work?
My home office/design studio. It is filled with eclectic, chic and inspirational pieces that keep my days fun.

4. What are you listening to at the moment?
I love music, all types. Music keeps me going throughout the day and I love to mix it up with everything from Otis Redding to Fiona Apple to Rihanna to Putumayo.

5. In one word, how would you describe yourself?
