Behind The Scenes: Finding the Best Style Names

There are many processes behind developing a new collection, and I have to say, one of the trickiest parts for me is naming new fabrics. Names are so important; studies have shown that names set up certain expectations and can influence people, who as we know tend to put a lot of weight on first impressions. I know, it’s just fabric, but it’s how our clients remember a style. I mean, who can remember a series of numbers anyways?

Here at TÉLIO we try and find names that are unique, catchy and creative. This being said, there are always exceptions to every rule, and with this particular fabric, I knew what to name it the second I laid eyes on it; Skyscraper.

This jacquard knit reminds me of one of Montreal’s nicest buildings; Westmount Square, designed by Mies van der Rohe, a famous modern architect.

So there you have it, the story behind the TÉLIO fabric called skyscraper.
