Trend Watch: Reveal just the right amount of skin with these 3 perfect fabrics.

Our modern version of sexy isn’t about showing it all off; it’s about discretely revealing your sexiest parts. Garments that include sheer insets, overlays and peekaboo cutouts achieve the reveal and conceal look beautifully. In order to get this look, you want to create garments that keep you covered, while letting just enough skin show in order to provoke curiosity. It is important to use the right fabrics to ensure that your outfit doesn’t end up in the ‘inappropriate office attire’ category! Remember for this trend, showing less is more (we don’t want to reveal too much).

Here are the 3 best ways to achieve this look- of course all using a different fantastic TÉLIO fabric!

1) Burnout Mesh: This semi-transparent novelty fabric has a design that is burnt into it, leaving some of the fabric sheer and the rest solid revealing the design. This creates a graphic effect perfect for insets in strategically placed areas to create a sexy and stylish look.

2) Geometric Eyelet: Eyelets are often misconstrued as being young, girly, floral fabrics, used for peasant type tops. Welcome to 2014 eyelet! Simple geometric eyelets with a consistent pattern like the square and circular versions above; are a modern clean way to reveal and conceal in garments. Sew the skirt lining a shorter length than the eyelet to create a great 3D layered effect. Or turn a classic white shirt trendy by adding panels of eyelet like the picture above right. Such a simple yet bold way to update a classic silhouette and show a little skin.

{Row 1} Boho Lace Dress; The Haut Pursuit, TÉLIO’s Delphine Guipure Style 35384 Col. 02, White embroidered dress by Naeem Khan; {Row 2} TÉLIO’s Lucy Lace Style 35350 Col. 01, Black Guipure Dress; Vogue Espana via Image Bam, TÉLIO’s Il Travatore Style 29316 Col. 01.

3) Guipure & Lace: Embroidery always creates a reveal and conceal look, as there is always some transparency in the areas where embroidery is absent. Layering guipure over vintage inspired undergarments or lace over a contrast colour lining is a more modern way to use lace and guipure to achieve this look.

Dare to bare this spring in outfits that can be worn in the office, shopping the downtown streets or attending a summer white party! The possibilities are endless.
