The Perfect Holiday Dress: McCalls 7654 / by Brittany J. Jones
Hey Friends!! Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great productive week so far. I can not tell you how excited I am for this post because its all about the holiday season. I love this time of the year, and even though I have a closet full, I still want something special and NEW for our upcoming holiday events!! Today I’m sharing the perfect dress just for that!!
A couple weeks ago, I was contacted by TÉLIO to do a collaboration, and of course I said YES!! TÉLIO has amazing fabrics plus was in love with their recent collaboration with my sew sister Emily Hallman, so I was really thankful and excited for this opportunity!
Learning that this project would be for a holiday look, I immediately thought of McCalls 7654! This pattern was love at first sight for me! I love all patterns/designs with cold-shoulders and I also love pencil skirt with simple bodice dress so this pattern was a win! I love that its a mix and match pattern so you can have lots of fun creating the dress just for your style!
For fabric, I was sent this gorgeous Mirror Satin fabric (Style 38094- Color 04)! With the shine and drape of this fabric, its perfect for a holiday dress. This fabric has a soft hand and sews up beautifully! I love that it has a subtle texture as well as stretch!! WIN!!
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a great rest of your week! If you have any questions, let me know below and I’ll be more than happy to answer!!

The TÉLIO Collection: Sensational Satin / by Emily Hallman Designs I have been excited about this post for weeks. It’s been so rewarding to see this collection come together, and to make it whole with this finale piece is very gratifying. When I first spoke with TÉLIO a few months ago, I never could have anticipated the […]
The TÉLIO Collection: Gorgeous Guipure / by Emily Hallman Designs Lace is one of my favorite fabrics. I don’t use it all that often because no matter what you do with it it’s quite dressy and formal, but it still catches my eye at the fabric store, every single time. I don’t have many opportunities […]
The TÉLIO Collection: Emerald Encore / by Emily Hallman Designs The dress in today’s post wasn’t planned. Originally, the folks at TÉLIO and I were going to end this fall series today with two pretty incredible special occasion pieces. Dresses made with yards and yards of satin and lace and a whole lot of horsehair, but this […]
New shades of blue are a rare thing to come by, every possible hue has been explored many times before. That being said, when certain blues we haven’t seen in a while make a comeback, we’re all for it. The more blues the better! Next season, we’ll be seeing the return of Marina Blue. This […]
Here at Télio, since we work in the fashion/textile industry, we anxiously await the announcement of Pantone‘s colour of the year, every year. It can confirm or confuse our choices for the coming year, as well as inspire us to create prints based on the trendy colour. For the first time ever, Pantone’s colour of […]
We get so much fabric at the Télio offices that some times we just have to take a moment and share our favourites with you. We can’t keep all of this love for ourselves! As you know, we’re always partial to prints, solid coloured textiles are fun and we always image the garments we would […]
Strangely, we often hear people talk about using pre-quilted fabric to make quilts. Technically, that’s not really what it’s made for. Of course, you’re welcome to do whatever you want with it, but we prefer to use it for other things. What kind of things you may ask? The possibilities are endless! Coats for one, […]
If you’ve been inside a clothing store this season you’ve undoubtedly seen this season’s biggest trend; the blanket cape! Yes, we’re aware it’s just a fancy industry name for a poncho, but we’re all over it, and technically, the blanket cape is worn a little longer than the regular, traditional fringy poncho that was all […]
Festina! There was no better way to call these fabrics, because they’re the definition of festive! Our brand new Festina prints all come in multi-coloured shades with a black base. The floral designs of the fabric can be deciphered from afar by looking at the embroidered coloured touches on the black woven base. Some even […]
