Behind the scenes with Canada’s Breakthrough Designers: Jury day – Winners’ Selection

A few weeks ago, TÉLIO held its second 2014 Canada’s Breakthrough Designers jury day. This time, the jury gathered together in order to select the top 5 winners among the 25 finalists they had previously chosen this past October. Here is how the day unfolded!

Meanwhile, our stylist Geneviève Allaire is dressing the two SPECS Models we have for the day’s events; they will both be modelling all the finalists’ garments before the jury. This gives the panel the best opportunity to assess each garment.

As you may have noticed, the jury is very thorough when analyzing the designs’ construction. They judge one design at a time and have 3 main criteria to respect: Creativity, Technical Quality and Respect of the Theme. The quality of the construction is very important, this is why all the garments are inspected inside out. The seams, hems, lining, etc. must be impeccable for a student to win their way into the top 5!

Thanks to Avocado Catering and Vitaminwater; the TÉLIO team, SPECS Models and jury members were well hydrated and energized for the second and final part of the day: the unanimous selection of each winner. As the results had been tallied up while the lunch break was taking place, the only part left to do was to agree on each winner. The jury accomplished this task without a hitch!
